For the first time in over 100 years, Jefferson High has turned its football field into a home for baseball and softball — and the results are historic! Thanks to the dedication of our administration, Athletic Director Jose Fuentes, and coaches Humberto Figueroa and Diego Castaneda, our baseball team is thriving and making headlines.
The Los Angeles Times recently spotlighted our Demos Baseball Team on their incredible season as we earned the No. 1 seed in the City Section Division III playoffs! This marks a major turnaround for a program that hasn’t seen this kind of success in decades. Led by standout players Ivan Martinez, Matthew Lopez, Luis Zaragoza, and Nathan Echeverria, the Democrats are proving what hard work and heart can do.
While we await brand-new baseball and softball fields by 2028, our team is proudly playing on what Mr. Fuentes calls “our makeshift sandlot” — and winning big.
Way to go, Jefferson! Let’s keep the momentum going — Go Democrats! 💚⚾💛
